US army intervention would end Trump politically— Venezuela’s leader

(MENAFN) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro warned that any American military action in his country could spell the “political end” for US President Donald Trump.

In a televised statement on Monday, Maduro claimed that individuals around Trump are “provoking” a potential armed conflict that, in his view, would push Trump “to a cliff.” He accused powerful sectors in the United States of attempting to use Venezuela to undermine Trump, saying: “They want President Trump to make the most serious mistake of his entire life and set himself militarily against Venezuela, which would be the political end of his leadership and name, and he is being pressured and provoked.”

Maduro suggested that this provocation comes not only from Trump’s known adversaries but also from people close to him calculating for a post-Trump era, adding: “if he knew, he wouldn’t say who it was.”

Despite the tensions, Maduro emphasized Venezuela’s willingness for direct talks with Washington, insisting that diplomacy and the pursuit of “communal points” remain the government’s “invariable” approach. He described the past 16 weeks as a period of threats, psychological pressure, and harassment, which has, according to him, strengthened Venezuela’s Bolivarian National Armed Forces, expanded the Bolivarian Militia, and rallied community support for national defense.

Meanwhile, Trump acknowledged on Sunday that “there could be discussions” with Maduro, noting that Venezuela expressed a desire to negotiate, though he later indicated that decisions regarding the country had been made without providing further details.
